Education

In addition to my Bachelor of Science degree in Business with both Accounting and Finance majors, my post graduate education consists of law school, extensive professional continuing education and specialty coursework with licenses/certifications in a variety of interesting areas including real estate, software development, baseball umpiring and truck specifications ...

Primary grades through high school:

Upson School
Euclid, Ohio

Orange High School
Pepper Pike Ohio

Orange High School
Orange, California

I was priviledged to have attended one of the finest academic high schools in the state of Ohio, and continued along a college-preparatory program graduating second in my class (of 1017 students). I competed in interscholastic athletics, earning my high school letter in wrestling, and finishing as high as second place in statewide tournaments.

College:

University of Arizona
Tucson, Arizona

My college experience was very rewarding, and it enabled me to qualify to sit for the Certified Public Accountant's exam. My decision to forego petitioning for my degree in finance in order to also meet the requirements of a degree in accounting was one of my wisest.

I am proud to say that, although not the Validictorian of my class of fellow accounting majors, I outperformed the student who had bested me throughout college by passing the entire CPA exam in the same sitting, including posting a top state ranking in the auditing portion of the exam.

Post-graduate academic training:

Western State University College of Law
Anaheim, California

California State University
Los Angeles, California

University of California
Berekely, California

California CPA Foundation
Sacramento, California

New York University
New York, New York

Spidell California Tax Seminars
Anaheim, California

Gear-Up Tax Seminars
Palo Alto, California

Much of my post-graduate work was undertaken in connection with my continuing education requirement as a CPA. In the early years, I selected courses that also prepared me to choose a career as an attorney. Although I do not have a juris doctor degree, I attended the equivalent of approximately a year's worth of full-time law school study, successfully completing a number of valuable courses in subjects such as contracts, agency and partnership, Uniform Commercial Code, family and business law.

In addition to law school, during my years as an actively practicing CPA, I regularly took classes in taxation from a number of colleges and universities.

Specialty training - restaurant management:

Burger Chef Systems
Indianapolis, Indiana

Upon my promotion from assistant manager of the Anaheim store to manager of the newly-opening Huntington Beach location, I had an opportunity to take the restaurant management course at the franchisor's corporate headquarters.

Specialty training - leasing operations management & truck specifications:

Ford Motor Institute
Dearborn, Michigan
Buena Park, California

In connection with my endeavors auditing Ford Dealer Development operations, I took advantage of several opportunities to attend programs offered in Ford Authorized Leasing Systems operations management and in truck specifications. It is this type of well-rounded education that will save you big money when your company needs to spec out its fleet needs. Too much truck wastes fuel; too little truck is potentially dangerous.

Specialty training - real estate appraisal:

Realtime Real Estate Schools
Upland, California

In connection with my development of a software program that was designed for use by professional appraisers, I completed all classes that are required for the uniform examination of a Certified General Appraiser.

Specialty training - baseball umpiring:

California R.O.P. program
Riverside, California

I attended weekly classes for a number of years in connectrion with my professional umpiring endeavors at the high school and collegiate levels. Eventually, I became certified as a National Collegiate Athletic Association men's hardball umpire at the Division I (NCAA's highest) level .

Specialty training - real estate licensing:

Akamai Real Estate Schools
Kailua-Kona, Hawaii

I completed the prescribed courses that enabled me to take the state examinations for my license as real estate sales person and subsequently as a real estate broker. In addition, I have also completed (and continue to take) classes for the maintenance of my license.
